Post Accomplishments
On March 9, 2011 at the City of Wildwood Commissioners Meeting, the Wildwood Fire Department presented
two awards.  The first award was to Firefighter Ron Harwood.  On December 2, 2010 Off-Duty FF Harwood
was in the area when a structure fire was dispatched at 5006 Atlantic Ave.  FF Harwood responded to the
scene.  Upon his arrival he found heavy smoke coming from the dwelling.  He entered the home and found a
male occupant still inside.  He ordered that man to leave the dwelling.  At this time the male occupant advised
FF Harwood that there was a female sleeping in the living room.  FF Harwood went to the living room and
assisted the female out of the burning dwelling.  Both occupants were treated by EMS on scene and
released.  FF Harwood took great personal risk entering the dwelling without his PPE or the protection of a
charged hoseline.  FF Harwood's actions were in the highest traditions of the Fire Service.  Nice Job Ron!
Also, the WFD presented the Wildwood American Legion Post #184 a special recognition award for their
continued support of the Wildwood Fire Dept.  Over the past several years the American Legion Post #184
has purchased mutiple pieces of equipment for the Wildwood Fire Dept.  This equipment includes the
departments vehicle extrication equipment, Air powered rescue tools,  rope rescue equipment, and confined
space rescue equipment.  Without the continued support and relationship with the American Legion the
Wildwood Fire Dept. surely would not have been able to purchase this lifesaving equipment.  The plaque was
presented to Post Commander Harry Tweed (Retired WFD/WPD Dispatcher).  Thank you to all members of
American Legion Post 184 for your continued support of the Wildwood Fire Dept. and the entire community
